独居老人邓美娟（吕中 饰）因为常常接到骚扰电话而忧心忡忡，但是大儿子大军（冯远征 饰）及大儿媳（秦海璐 饰）却认为是老人因为丧偶而引发的臆想症。老邓试着跟小儿子小兵（秦昊 饰）沟通，却演变成因为看不惯同性恋儿子的生活习惯引发的争吵。就这样，老邓变成了两个儿子生活中的闯入 者，格格不入地生活在老房子里。随着时间的推移，小区内发生的入室抢劫案以及大军家里发生的恶作剧事件，逐渐让一家人变得警惕起来，而就在此时老邓遇到了一个游荡的少年（石榴 饰），并好心地让他在家里借住。可是事件并没有平息，而是愈演愈烈，两兄弟终于发现一切事件的发生都与几十年前母亲在三线建设中发生的事有密切关系……。永远不要给亲戚打工，谈工作时他们会比对外人过分一万倍去压榨你，而谈待遇时，他们却又谈起亲情，让你少拿或不拿，以锻炼为主。。Just over 40 years ago, marriage in China was arranged by the state.
