一个两岁的孩子雷达在1998年的某一天走失，父亲雷泽宽（刘德华饰）从此开始了长达十四年的寻子之路，途中历尽艰辛，偶然遇到了四岁时被拐的修车小伙曾帅（井柏然饰），两人一同踏上寻亲之路，途中两人建立了父子般的情谊。。在一场不期而至的大地震中，某地监狱中一小股犯人趁乱出逃。司法部领导对此事十分重视，立刻组织了追逃队伍捉拿逃犯。之前潜入罪犯内部的卧底成功跟随越狱逃犯拿到贩毒证据，幕后老板被绳之以法。。The film opens with a narrated disclaimer over footage of an opening coffin.
