该片讲述了叶子在机缘巧合之下住进一座大宅意外揭开了埋藏于大宅内的一系列与通灵有关的恐怖故事。。表面上，高岭清麿（樱井孝宏 配音）是一个个性孤僻不爱上学的不良少年，但他其实是个拥有超高智商的天才少年。某日，一个外表奇特的男孩找到了清麿，男孩告诉清麿自己叫卡修（大谷育江 配音），此行前来的目的是为了报恩。就这样，清麿收留了卡修，两人的同居生活正式开始。
在卡修随身携带的红书里，隐藏了卡修失忆的线索，而清麿居然轻易的就读懂了上面古怪的文字，从而展开了一段魔幻奇缘。原来，在这个世界上，存在着很多像卡修这样带着魔法书的孩子们，在他们之间，以破坏其余的魔法书为目的，持续着一场浩荡的战争。而卡修和清麿，亦被卷入了这场残酷的战争中去。。In the Post-World War II, in Los Angeles, a criminal shots and kills a police officer in the middle of the night.
