第33届多伦多国际电影节的开幕影片. 根据一次世界大战的真实故事改编而成。影片讲述了在震惊世界的帕斯尚尔战役期间，一对恋人的不幸遭遇。历史上的帕斯尚尔战役，于1917年7月31日爆发，一直持续到11月6日，交战双方英国和德国经历了长达四个多月的拉锯战。英军期望攻占比利时的帕斯尚尔，以摧毁德军设在该地的潜水艇基地，结果在攻守之间，万众将士毙命——盟军32.5万人伤亡，德军26万人伤亡，这场惨烈无比的战争，最后以英军攻占帕斯尚尔宣告结束。影片拍摄周期长达两年。。The first 24 hours as an MFA.
