迈阿密牙医奥斯（马修•派瑞 Matthew Perry 饰）的生活并不愉快，这一切都是因为他的妻子苏菲（罗姗娜•阿奎特 Rosanna Arquette 饰）。菲比为人泼辣，十分霸道，令到奥斯整天只能忍气吞声。这天，奥斯家来了新的邻居——吉米（布鲁斯•威利斯 Bruce Willis 饰）。这个吉米不简单，他曾是芝加哥的一个黑帮杀手，因为背叛了黑帮老大查理才来此暂避风头。查理已经发出悬赏令通缉吉米。
